Inspiration

Modern Homestead Kitchen in Wausau

The owners of this transitional home were looking for a fresh, functional design that would grow with their family. Wausau designer Mellissa Gilbert was able to work with them to bring a light and airy feel to the kitchen area of this new construction home.

The kitchen cabinets are Dura Supreme Homestead painted the color Pearl with a laminate countertop in Spring Carnival. The island is custom painted with Sherwin Williams Gauntlet Gray, and it has a gorgeous butcher block countertop. Long, sleek drawer pulls complete the look.

Just off the kitchen is a desk area that Mellissa said will be used as a dedicated child craft area and, in later years, a homework station. The cabinets and countertops match what is in the kitchen and link the two areas.

This look is a great example of an on-trend kitchen design without the expense of granite or quartz countertops.

WBS Mobile App Version 3.0 is Coming Soon

Fall is here, and that means we’re getting closer to the launch of version 3.0 of our mobile app. The app, which will bring ultimate convenience to your fingertips, will be available soon.

Our goal as your building supplier is to make your job as a professional contractor run smoothly by working with you – and for you – during every step of the building process. A big part of how we do that is through our mobile app, and we’re rolling out a new version this fall.

The new version of the app will be available for Apple and Android devices on a variety of platforms – computer, tablet, and smartphone. It will include features that are guaranteed to save you, the professional contractor, time and money. It will have YouTube capability for viewing “How To” videos, will feature product-information catalogs, and will include access to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), which are required by OSHA to be available at construction jobsites.

In addition, the improved app will include online ordering and online scheduling of those orders. And to make your accounting easier, invoices will be available for direct download to QuickBooks.

If you haven’t yet downloaded our app, don’t wait any longer. It brings all the delivery information you need to know – like whether your shipment is dropped off and multiple photos of the delivery – to your fingertips. Other features include: easy access to invoices, including the ability to view upcoming bills, see line-by-line items on invoices, and sort invoices by job; and notifications of upcoming WBS events and promotions. Download it today by visiting wibuildingsupply.com.

La Crosse Parade of Homes Winners Supplied by WBS

Early fall is a popular time for many of our local home builders associations to host a Parade of Homes. The La Crosse Area Builders Association held its annual Parade of Homes in late August, and all four of the winning homes were supplied by Wisconsin Building Supply. Find out more about these homes and why you should partner with WBS on your next Parade home.

We’re proud to announce that the four award-winning homes at the La Crosse Area Builders Association Parade of Homes were all supplied by Wisconsin Building Supply in Onalaska. Homes in the Parade were separated into four divisions based on the home’s price and size, and they were judged the first weekend of the Parade, which was held from Aug. 19-28.

The winners were:

Division 1: Lautz Lassig Custom Builders of West Salem

Division 2: Lifetime Design Homes of Holmen

Division 3: MasterCraft Homes of La Crosse

Division 4: Fletcher Construction of Onalaska

You already know that we are able to provide services from design to completion, but what you may not realize is that our sales reps have a wide range of expertise and many years of experience working with Parade home builders. Our sales reps offer options and suggestions you may not have thought of, and we’re able to provide ideas and a wide selection of products and finishes.

WBS also has award-winning kitchen and bath designers, two essential things that can “make” a home. You can count on our designers to make a masterpiece out of your Parade home’s kitchen and bathrooms.

WBS Onalaska GM Wins Multiple Awards at LABA Awards Night

The La Crosse Area Builders Association held its annual awards night on Sept. 20, and the general manager of our Onalaska location, Alex Goodman, was presented with three plaques. Alex’s dedication to the community, the trade, and his career are all reasons why we couldn’t agree more with the LABA’s decision to honor him.

Alex Goodman, the general manager of Onalaska’s Wisconsin Building Supply, was honored with three awards by the La Crosse Area Builders Association on Sept. 20.

He was named the 2016 Associate Member of the Year, received a plaque for being a member of the LABA for 25 years, and he was also recognized for being the chairman of the Building Careers Committee. That committee raised $6,000 for tools for local high schools whose shop class budgets have been cut.

As someone who started his career in the lumber yard, Alex says he has a fondness for young people starting out and learning building trades, and that’s currently a hard demographic to find. He hopes that his work with the LABA and the Building Careers Committee will energize today’s high schoolers and help them find their potential in the many building trades that are always looking for qualified, skilled professionals.

Congratulations, Alex!
